There are lots of places to walk or bikes ride. It is a great place to escape the flurry of activities found in many resort areas but within easy driving distance of all those activities. Monkey Island is known as some of the hottest real estate on the lake with its resorts, condominiums and private residences. Some of the lake's best restaurants are located here and shoppers are drawn to its shops filled with art, antiques and other enticing items. Shangri-La resort crowns the tip of this long, scenic peninsula.
As a point of reference,Cliff Dwellings are located in Port Duncan Estates on Monkey Island. Just before you cross the bridge onto Monkey Island on Highway 125 you will notice Martin Water Craft. If you like to fish, Martin provides a guide service for the Grand Lake area. Approximately 2 miles down the road on Highway 125 on your way to the condos, (5 minutes from Cliff Dwellings) you will notice the Royal Horse Ranch sign on the right hand side of the road advertising hay rides and horseback riding. If for no other reason, you should see their very friendly and lovable potbellied pig! Located just West of Monkey Island near Bernice on Highway SH85A, the Darryl Starbird Car Museum offers great enjoyment for all car lovers.
Shangri-La is only a couple of miles (5 minutes) from Port Duncan on Highway 125 where you can play golf, rent water sports equipment at the marina, play tennis, dinning and dancing, etc. Other Island interests would include the Bear Art Gallery and Island store and eating establishments (4 minutes away), horse back riding, hay rides, fishing (guides are available), water sport rentals, boating, air port and lots of places to walk and bike ride.

Grove is 10 miles from Cliff Dwellings. Grove offers an abundance of flea markets, arts and crafts, and antiques shops along with Harbor Village,this area (small admission charge). The Walmart has a supercenter on Highway 10/59 west of the Main Street stoplight, a place to stock up on groceries and other supplies.
On the way into Grove, just across Sailboat Bridge you will see the Cherokee Queen. This is a very large riverboat that offers excursion rides, has a restaurant, parties sometimes has parties along with other activities. The Cherokee Queen passes right by Cliff Dwellings on it cruise, it fun to watch during the day as well as at night with all its lights aglow.
